Recruiting is an essential part of building up guild numbers, since people can only join a guild if invited. I know that some people have mentioned not knowing how to recruit, being unsure of what to say to draw people in, or what to say to someone who is interested but has questions. In this thread I will give some easy tips, as well as a sample recruiting message.

Go out into the world and announce our presence!
I know map chat may seem intimidating at times, but it is necessary that we interact with it. While recruiting, you should make sure to visit many different maps. Not just the starter areas, either. While starting areas do generally have lots of new players without guilds, there are players on higher level maps as well who might be looking for a new guild or possibly never joined one in the first place.

Your recruiting message.
If you go into map chat and say "Hey guys, I'm in this awesome guild. Wanna join?", well, yeah, that lets people know that a guild is recruiting, but it doesn't look all that great. You only have room for about 190-200 characters in one post, so you want to squeeze in what you can. Here is mine, as an example:
Quote :
The Chosen Ones [CHSN] is a new guild seeking members! Casual and fun, helpful guild staff. Forums up and running, TS3 for voice chat. All experience levels welcome. Whisper for more info Smile
See how I put as much about our guild in that message as I could. My message lets people know our guild name, that our guild is casual, that we have forums and TS3, and that anyone can join. See the part at the end? Whisper for more info. That is also important, and I'll be getting to that.
I encourage each person to write their own recruiting message, so people don't see the same message all the time. However, you are welcome to use mine or change mine to your liking.

Oh god, this person is messaging me about joining the guild!
So you've posted your recruiting message, and now you've got a bite! Someone wants to join the guild. Some people might message you with "Hey, can I get an invite?" or "I'd like to join." Some people, though, might ask questions about the guild, and now you have to give answers. Here are some sample questions:
Quote :
How many people are in your guild?
This one is easy enough to answer. If you open up the guild panel and look underneath our guild image, you'll see something like 5/16 Members Online. The second number, in this case 16, is the number if people currently in our guild.
Quote :
Is this a fairly active guild?
Some people might be looking for a new guild or secondary guild so that they have people to hang out with/talk to, and they would like to know if our guild has active members. Right now, we have a small number of people in the guild, so you might let them know that while at certain times we have a bunch of members online, our activity depends on what time of day it is. To me, it seems more people are on in the evening, so you might let them know that as well. But what is evening for you might be morning for other people in different time zones. This brings us to our next possible question...
Quote :
What is the main time zone for this guild/is this a(n) <insert time zone here> guild/do you have people in <time zone>?
The guild leader and many of the officers are, at this time, mostly in the Eastern or Central time zones in the US/Canada. If they aren't familiar with the time zones, maybe compare what time it is for you and for them so they know what the time difference is. As far as whether or not we have people in certain time zones, your answer depends on you being somewhat familiar with the members of the guild. If you don't know where people are from, you should make the effort to learn at least some of them.
Quote :
Does this guild have <insert upgrade> unlocked?
Some people are looking for a guild to do Guild Activities with, such as Bounties, Puzzles, Rushes, etc. Since we are still a very young guild with a small amount of members, we do not currently have those things unlocked, and have a ways to go to get them. Let them know that while we do not have them now, one of the things we hope to accomplish by recruiting new, active members is to be able to get these unlocked. Some might not want to join if we don't already have them, and that's alright.

Alright, this person definitely wants to join now. How do I invite them?
If you have the ability to invite people, all you have to do is right-click their name in the chat box and click Guild Invite. You can also manually invite people by opening the guild panel, clicking the tab called Roster, then typing their user name into the Search/Invite box. Be aware, if you type it in manually, be sure to get their full user name. This means the four numbers at the end as well. Ex: Someone's character name might be Stark Bastard, but their user name is JonSnow.1528, you want to invite them by typing in JonSnow.1528

If you do not have the ability to invite someone, but you happened to find someone who wants to join, simply message one of the officers or guild leader with the user name of the person you want invited.

I think that just about covers everything. If you have any questions about any of this information, or if you have a question about something I haven't covered, feel free to respond to this post or message me in game.
